our story

about us

We’re more than just a gym—we’re a community dedicated to helping you build strength, improve endurance, and create lasting, healthy habits.

allen & katie thompson

We’ve both been involved in the Orlando CrossFit community for nearly a decade as athletes and members of several gyms around the area.

A little more about us, we got married in 2018 and we live that CrossFit lifestyle. When we travel, we always drop-in somewhere, so a box needs to be nearby wherever we go. Sometimes, we even bring our own weights on road-trip vacations and workout on the patio of an AirBnB or in a hotel parking lot! Between the two of us, we’ve done several competitions (CF Championship Cup, Zombie WODs, ACC, Tampa Bay Games and War on Wall Street). We even made it to the podium a few times in the Masters Teams divisions proving that we are actually getting fitter with age! We are fans of the sport of CrossFit and tune in to watch as many events as we can. Allen is a CF-L1 Trainer. Katie leveled up to a CF-L2 Trainer in 2024 and added CrossFit Nutrition I in 2025!

About Katie

And me, Katie, I hail from Green Bay, Wisconsin. I grew up as a dancer, singer, and actress. Dancing was my preferred form of exercise, until Allen dragged me to a Halloween WOD on our third date, and I fell in love with the sport of fitness, too.

My business background started in Sales for tourism companies, running events in Mexico (luckily I’m fluent in Spanish). I had the pleasure of working with Allen as the Head of Sales for RIP-IT Sports, before jumping full-time into self employment in January 2024. I like to think of myself as a super friendly and outgoing, people-person who brings charisma and hospitality to the MouseTrap Fitness community.

About Allen

Allen is originally from St. Louis. His love of fitness began as a member of the Army Boxing Team at West Point. After college, he served as Master Fitness Trainer (planning physical training for his platoon), and eventually began running a personal training business while he worked at the Pentagon before relocating to Orlando.

Most recently, Allen served as Chief Operating Officer of local women’s sporting goods company RIP-IT Sports before taking the leap to full-time entrepreneurship in April of 2024, only to find that he missed the hustle of a larger company and found himself returning to RIP-IT to resume his COO role in December 2025.
